Trash and recycling services are provided to Commerce City residents at no additional cost for all single-family homes and duplexes in the city. All homes in the city should have two carts from Republic Services:

• The blue bin with the black lid is your trash container
• service is provided weekly
• The blue bin with the light blue lid is your recycling container
• service is provided every other week

Graffiti

The Code Enforcement Division coordinates free graffiti removal within the city. You can request graffiti removal from private or public property online. 

Commerce City's Adopt-a-Street Program allows local families, businesses and community groups to perform a valuable community service by adopting a section of a Commerce City street to keep it clear of litter and debris. Learn more and apply online.

Residents can dispose of compostable yard waste at A1 Organics Commerce City (9109 Monaco Street, Henderson, CO). There are several free events during the year where residents can drop off yard waste at no cost. Check the calendar for upcoming yard waste disposal events. 

Commerce City receives federal funding for community projects that benefit low to moderate-income residents through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. There are currently three home repair programs available:

• Minor Home Repair Program (MHRP)
• Arapahoe County Weatherization Program (AC WX)
• Paint-a-Thon Program (PAT)

For a small fee, residents can discard unwanted electronics that are not accepted in your regular garbage. From TVs and computers to rechargeable batteries and microwaves, Adams County and the City of Thornton offer two electronics recycling events a year.

Location: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center (IMC), 12450 Washington Street. Use the north entrance with access from 126th Avenue east of Washington Street.

There are several recycling events available to residents throughout the year to properly dispose of these hard-to-recycle items for free.

The city partners with Veolia several times a year to help residents dispose of household items that are not safe to discard in your regular trash (such as household cleaners, gasoline, pesticides, weed killer, rechargeable batteries, fire extinguishers, etc.) On these days, the standard $20/vehicle fee is waived and the per-pound disposal fee is only 92 cents per pound (down from the regular $1.25 per pound rate).

The Republic Services landfill, located at 19260 E. 88^th Avenue, is open from Monday-Saturday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Call the landfill at 303-371-5115 for a list of rates. There are several free landfill dump days as part of the city's trash and recycling program. On one of these four free days per year, residents can dispose of large quantities of trash or oversized items for free.
