Housing Needs Assessment

About the Project

Commerce City is currently conducting a Housing Needs Assessment. A Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) is a comprehensive study designed to evaluate the types and availability of housing within a community. It identifies existing housing conditions, affordability challenges, and potential gaps to help plan for future housing needs and prioritize strategies. The HNA project began in early 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Get Involved in the Housing Needs Assessment

The project team is working closely with residents, developers, and business owners to ensure a broad range of perspectives on housing challenges and opportunities are captured. Community input is essential to understanding current housing issues and shaping future solutions together.

Key Project Milestones & Engagement Opportunities

There will be multiple opportunities to get involved throughout the project, including:

  • Identifying Housing Challenges & Opportunities (April – July 2025). Share your thoughts by completing an online survey about the biggest housing challenges and what types of housing should be prioritized. Later in the summer, Community Open Houses will provide an opportunity to discuss housing needs in more depth.

  • Final Housing Needs Assessment Report (July – September 2025). The Housing Needs Assessment will be published in late summer, followed by a Community Open House to review key findings and discuss next steps.
