Code Enforcement

As of Wednesday, May 7, the Code Enforcement Division is located at 7190 Colorado Blvd. on the sixth floor. Our last day offering services at the Civic Center was Wednesday, April 30. Staff is available May 1–6 via phone and email. Learn more

Ensuring the city is home to neighborhoods everyone can be proud of and maintaining the city’s motto of a “Quality Community for a Lifetime” is a team effort. The Code Enforcement Division works with residents and property owners throughout the city each day to help meet that goal.

The goal of Code Enforcement is to maintain and improve the safety and appearance of private property in the city. Code Enforcement inspectors enforce the ordinances and regulations enacted by the City Council to address public nuisances, property maintenance, and zoning issues on private property that may be detrimental to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community.

Community & Compliance Series

This new meeting series connects residents with valuable resources and insights about property maintenance and city expectations. Four meetings will be held throughout the year, where we will bring city staff and residents together in each of the city’s wards to foster understanding, collaboration, and community engagement.

Each event will feature staff who will provide guidance on maintaining properties and explain available city resources, such as the Snow Guardians program, Tool Trailer program, and the ACT program. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how these initiatives help improve neighborhoods and uphold Commerce City's standards.

Mark your calendar for these dates:

  • Wednesday, March 5* at Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, 6060 Parkway Dr.
  •  Wednesday, April 16 at Bison Ridge Recreation Center, 13905 E. 112th Ave.
  •  Wednesday, July 16 at Belle Creek Community Center, 10693 Belle Creek Blvd.
  •  Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Station 8 Fire House, 10326 Walden St. - This event has been replaced with the SpeakUp Commerce City event that will take place on Wed., Aug. 20 and Thurs., Sept. 25

*This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 19, however, due to Eagle Pointe Recreation Center serving as warming shelters in response to cold temperatures, the event was rescheduled.

All meetings will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and are free to attend. Don’t miss this chance to connect with city staff, ask questions, and learn how you can contribute to keeping Commerce City a vibrant, well-maintained community.

For questions, contact the Code Enforcement Division at codeenforcement@c3gov.com or 303-227-8860.

Compliance Assistance is now available

Through the Advancing Commerce City Together (ACT) program, compliance assistance is now available. This program area aims to foster community pride and reduce the strain of code enforcement violations by addressing the root causes of non-compliance. The program is designed to assist residents who receive a property violation notice but cannot comply due to a qualifying disability or limited financial resources.

The city recognizes that seniors, those with disabilities, and those without the financial means to resolve property violations sometimes need assistance to meet compliance. Without help, many residents are unsure how to address the issue, leading to additional fines. The goal is to allow all residents to maintain or improve their properties, particularly those who would otherwise be unable to do so. By offering additional support for those residents who need it, we can create a more equitable and vibrant community.
